Two very significant influencers in my own art, life, experience. It makes so much sense to know that Frost has this relationship with Marley’s music and that I might discover this connection on my birthday. I got clued to this over on Arkitip.
Damien Jurado is a songwriter. This post might be more of a bookmark for the future to remind that his Maraqopa album is all I’ve listened to for an entire week. This one’s got staying power. The whole album is beautiful. I’ll let time tell if it’s timeless.
Just stumbled across this teaser video featuring the amazing Richmond rock band, RPG. It was put together by Richmond based photographer, Kieran Wagner, in support of Studio B, a local music show that is produced by my brother, Jay Smack. I guess he was going to show this to me later but I found it first. Dig.

I encountered a song back around 2005 that stuck with me hard. The song itself made me preorder the vinyl which included a free cd. Not one to overhype my flavors o’ the month I’ve just continued to love the music without making bold claims but I’m still listening to this album 6 years later by French Quarter and periodically finding free downloads to my own satisfaction. I love the voice, the style, the approach and the persistence of this artist.
There’s so much going on here. Zappa at the age of 22 on the Steve Allen show. No one has any idea who Zappa is yet.
